UVF 016 – ZERSTÖRUNG EINES MÄDCHENS – Underground filmmaker Juval Marlon (STURMGEWEHR, DES TÖCHTERLEINS LEID, …) delivers an intense, claustrophobic chamber drama that offers an unflinching look at the trauma and everyday existence of Aurora, portrayed by Adrienne Kaufmann. Developed in close collaboration with Adrienne, who created the concept alongside Marlon, ZERSTÖRUNG EINES MÄDCHENS (=DESTRUCTION OF A GIRL) is a bold and uncompromising piece of cinema that can only be recommended to those already familiar with Marlon's work – and who know just how far his films are willing to go. Bleak, intimate and almost unbearable to watch, this is a deeply unsettling work of underground cinema that strips Aurora's soul bare and leaves little doubt that the horrors depicted on screen may be all too deeply rooted in reality.
Twenty-three-year-old Aurora is trapped. Trapped in an apartment – and trapped in a relationship she sees no way out of. Day after day, she is subjected to horrific abuse at the hands of a man who holds her completely at his mercy. But Aurora is also fighting a battle within herself, one that remains invisible to the outside world. In response to years of trauma, her mind began dividing her personality into distinct parts, each with its own characteristics. And some of these parts now stand in the way of her escape from the nightmare she is living.
